The seat of Bonney was created in the 2017 redistribution by Queensland’s Electoral Commission. It covers Labrador, Arundel, Parkwood and parts of Biggera Waters, Coombabah, Helensvale and Southport. Situated between the M1 and the Broadwater, Bonney contains both the Health and Knowledge Precinct in the south and the Harbour Town shopping and dining precinct in the north.
Bonney includes some of the most beautiful parts of the Broadwater, featuring stunning views of the iconic Gold Coast skyline. It is serviced by five light rail stations, heavy rail, seven schools, and the Gold Coast University Hospital.
Locals also value the many green and recreational spaces which are key to the Gold Coast’s outdoors lifestyle. These spaces are particularly important for residents of Bonney, which has the 4th highest proportion of flats and apartments (33.05%) and the 4th lowest proportion of detached housing in the state (38.21%).
The 56,471 people that call Bonney home are laid back, friendly and represent the wide spectrum of people that make up modern Australia. Just over 35% of our community were born overseas and 22.6% speak a language other than English at home.
Community groups are key to making Bonney such a wonderful place to live. They encourage people to connect with neighbours, make new friendships and serve vulnerable members of our community. If you aren’t yet involved with one of these groups and would like help linking in, please call our office on (07) 5657 7980.
